Am I eligible to vote in the state of Texas?
- You are a United States citizen, and a resident of the county where you submit the application;
- You are at least 17 years and 10 months old on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and you are 18 years of age on Election Day.
- You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
- You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

How do I check my registration information
Provisional Ballots
- What is a provisional ballot?
- A provisional ballot is given to a voter who does not appear on the voter roll due to administrative error, this ballot must be “cured” within six days after the election by presenting any form of accepted identification to the main Harris County Elections Office.
- You may ask for a provisional ballot if the election worker cannot find your name on the rolls but you know you’re eligible, you will be asked to sign an affidavit and state the reasons why you’re qualified to vote, after “casting” your provisional ballot you will have six days to cure, after curing your ballot the provisional voting ballot board will determine if your ballot will be counted or rejected.
Reasonable Impediment Declaration Info
You MUST qualify to receive this designation. This designation can be given if you: lack transportation, disability or illness, lack of birth certificate or other documents needed to obtain acceptable photo ID, work schedule, family responsibilities, lost or stolen IS, or acceptable form of photo ID is applied for but not received. Voters with a disability may apply for this designation with the county voter registrar.

Last reported scam: People not affiliated with the Harris County Election Administrator’s Office are going to primarily black neighborhoods to “verify” addresses. You DO NOT have to provide that information.
Voter Intimidation
What to do if you experience voter intimidation
- In many states, you can give a sworn statement to the poll worker that you satisfy the qualifications to vote in your state, and then proceed to cast a ballot.
- Report intimidation to the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (en Español).
- Report intimidation to your local election officials. Their offices will be open on Election Day.
