Empower Your Community through Disaster Preparedness Training

East Harris County Empowerment Council provides FREE, one-hour, hands-on disaster preparedness training at your preferred location.

Training Requirements:

  • Company/Organization must operate in the East Harris County area in the zip codes 77532, 77530, 77044, 77015, 77029, 77547 or 77049.
  • Must have minimum of 15 participants to attend training.
  • All trainings are in-person. 

    Training includes:

    • Building a family emergency plan
    • Safe evacuation procedures
    • Disaster recovery strategies
    • Additional disaster preparedness topics
    • A disaster kit stocked with essential items

        What is disaster preparedness training?

        A training program that prepares you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors in the event of a disaster. Preparing for disasters also saves countless lives, speeds up people’s recovery and saves money.

        The one hour disaster preparedness training covers disaster best practices, family communication plans, financial preparedness, how to apply for assistance after a disaster, and more!

        Is the training free of charge?

        Yes, the training is completely free of charge.

        Can the training be hosted at my location?

        Yes! We would love to come present to your group at a location convenient for you. Training groups must have at least ten people in attendance. 

        What is included in the disaster preparedness backpack?

        Everybody who attends training will receive a disaster preparedness backpack that includes a first aid kit, a flashlight, thermal blankets, an emergency whistle, plus a few more basic essentials.

        Who can attend the training?

        This training is tailored to adults, but a kid-friendly version will be coming soon! Any adult in the East Harris County area is welcome to attend training. 

        How long is the training program?

        The training lasts approximately one hour.

        Can the training be customized to fit my community's specific needs?

        Yes! Once you fill out an interest form, EHCEC will call you to discuss details of the training and any specific community needs can be determined then.
